Chacchas are rhythm instruments made from a bundle of dried nuts from North and South America tied together. They can be shaken with a stick or a wrist strap with their hands to the rhythm of the music. Another possibility is the Chacchas rattles. Here the chacchas are provided with a wide band and, when tied around the ankles, produce rhythmic sounds when dancing. As with many South American natural instruments, these are also provided with colorfully woven ribbons.
