That little plucked instrument called Charango is very popular because of its rather original sound. It is native to the South American Andean region. While the dried shell of an armadillo or a turtle was previously used as a sound box, today wood is mainly used for the construction of the instruments. Although the shape of the Charango resembles a guitar or a lute, it is usually much smaller than one of these instruments.
