Maracas

Maracas are rattles that have become an integral part of Latin American music. They are gripped by the handles and shaken rhythmically in different variants or hit with the fingertips. This creates the characteristic pounding sound of this instrument. Dried pumpkins are used as the body, dried plant seeds, meal or small pebbles are used as the filling. They are adorned with incorporated Indian motifs.
