The apaquita or the little alpaca will not only delight children's hearts. With its particularly cuddly fur, it is a loyal friend to love. These plush toys are handmade from alpaca fur. The fur is particularly soft and has been naturally tanned.
The family business Marleny from Lurin in the province of Lima produces the various plush toys. The skins of the alpacas come from the Puno region. Puno is located on the Collao plateau. Llamas and alpacas have been kept in this region since time immemorial.
Alpacas are a camel form from the South American Andes, which are mainly bred for their wool (similar to the way we do sheep), but the meat is also very healthy, low in cholesterol and very tasty. The animals are shorn once a year, the wool is processed. Alpacas are slightly smaller than llamas and above all lighter. Their colors can be pure white to beige, brown and reddish brown, but also gray or black. They can also be multicolored, piebald. Alpacas are most comfortable in groups and are herbivores.
