This necklace is made of horn with nickel silver and stone.
The necklaces are made in Peru and adorned with various applications made of alpaca wire (nickel silver). The different grain and color of this natural product gives each piece its own touch. This is just one of the many different designs that we offer. We have only selected the most beautiful motifs for you. A semi-precious stone is also processed in each piece. (Chrysocolla, Sunstone, Lapis Lazuli, Onyx, etc.)
The first metal goods came from China to Europe in the 17th century, although it was only in the 18th century that it was recognized that the alloys consist of copper, zinc and nickel. A similar alloy was already produced in Suhl in 1770. The nickel silver was developed by the Henniger brothers in Berlin in 1824. In the 1960s, alpaca was very popular in the manufacture of cutlery items.
The alloy consists of 45-70% copper, 8-28% zinc and 8-28% nickel. Due to the nickel content, nickel silver can only oxidize to a very small extent. This jewelry is not suitable for allergy sufferers.
