Most minerals are not found in nature alone. They sit on so-called "mother rock" and often form "paragenesis" (groups of different minerals one above the other or next to each other). So our minerals are mainly on mother rock and in paragenesis with one or more other minerals.

Ammonite (fossil)

Ammonites are a group of exclusively marine cephalopods (Cephalopoda) that died out around 65 million years ago. The more than 1500 genera known today and about 30,000 to 40,000 species have populated the seas for 350 million years. Their size ranged from a few millimeters to almost 2 meters. The first ammonites developed in the Lower Devonian. Mann assumes today that they are descended from the Bactrites. The most closely related to the ammonites today is the Nautilus or pearl boat.
