Frame drums are one of the oldest known drum types. They consist of a tympanic membrane (usually goat) (or on both sides) stretched over a simple wooden frame. In many indigenous peoples, frame drums are still manufactured without a tensioning device and tuned by heating / drying the fur. The sound is created by hitting with a mallet or with the hand on the eardrum.
Our shaman drums are still used by shamans in this form in Latin America. At first the drums look a bit adventurous, but they are fully functional.
The Tinyas are delivered without a drumstick. Traditionally, these drums are played by hand. If you don't want to do without a drumstick, you can easily make it yourself. You take a wooden stick, which you wrap at one end with soft material such as leather, sheep's wool etc. and this fixed.
