It all starts with the alpaca. These animals are at home around Lake Titticaca, which divides the two countries Peru and Bolivia. There are two large ethnic groups, the Quechuas and Aymaras, who have the right to have domesticated the first alpacas. So their meat (nutrition), wool (clothing) and also feces (fuel) could be used. "Cochiraya - Puno" is a women's cooperative that produces knitwear (unique pieces) from alpaca wool. The cooperative currently has 60 members who work in two small groups, the Tumi and Irpa. The income generated from this work improves the standard of living for families and the entire region.”
